Врешь! Status und Funktion der Grice’schen Qualitätsmaxime im Konfliktgespräch

The Cooperative Principle, established by Grice, became a very popular conception to explain the functioning of dialogic interaction. However, in conflicts these rules have to be reconsidered, whereas especially the second maxim (Do not say what you believe to be false) is claimed by the participants and becomes the point of contention itself. There exists a certain gradation of expressions to claim truthfulness for oneself and to doubt or even reject the truthfulness of the other participants. These expressions and their consequences for the dispute as a whole are shown in this article.
