The European Union

The contribution discusses the problem of how to qualify the European Union in relation to recent empire studies. It tackles the general question of whether the EU represents a new world order with imperial ambitions in contrast to an alliance of national states. With the introduction of the concept of “short-term empire” the author develops a new perspective offering a fresh approach and interesting insights.
